Peace Day
Peace - 20/09/2017
On 21 September, International Day of Peace, UCLG and our members recall that peace is defined, not just by the absence of physical violence, but by inclusive communities that protect human rights, combat inequalities and treasure diversity. The theme for the 2017 International Day of Peace is “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All”, in support of the spirit of the TOGETHER campaign, a global initiative that promotes respect, safety and dignity for everyone who is forced to leave their home in search of a better future. Localizing SDGs - 15/09/2017
On September 7-8, 2017, UCLG participated in the second regional Global Alliance Workshop on Monitoring and Reporting Progress on Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies, a coordinating platform for UN Member States, private sector, civil society, and international entities, co-facilitated by UNDP, UNESCO and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Democracia local - 14/09/2017
The message of International Day of Democracy 2017, “Democracy and Conflict prevention” focuses on the critical need to strengthen democratic institutions to promote peace and stability. A more integrated approach to foster resilient societies calls for effective and inclusive democratic governance with respect for human rights. (+)

LThe 13th edition of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP 13) is taking place from 6 to 16 September 2017 in Ordos, Inner Mongolia (China). (+)

The Climate Chance World Summit is taking place from the 11th to the 13th September 2017 in Agadir, Morocco, in partnership with the Souss-Massa Region, the Climate Chance organisation, and our African Section UCLG Africa, which was instrumental in supporting this Summit. (+)

The partner organizations of the "Cities and Climate Change Science Conference: Fostering new scientific knowledge for cities based on science, practice and policy" are pleased to announce a call for proposals for sessions and abstracts.
